FAQs

How to Sharpen Garden Clippers?

The task of sharpening your garden shears is simple and should take no more than 10 minutes. First, you will need three diamond files, one of which will be slightly coarse and the others fine and extra-fine.

Coarse Diamond File: Begin by pressing the coarse file on the blade's inside. Ensure that you use a curved motion, similar to the blade's form, when doing so. There may be a requirement for 10 to 20 repetitions of the draw. However, if the blades are excessively dull, the number of draws can be increased to 30 to 40.

The coarse file will perform the most of the job. Nonetheless, you must repeat the same procedure with the remaining two files in order to get fine, sharp edges. Additionally, you may use the extra-fine file on the blade's reverse side.

How Should Garden Shears Be Cleaned?

Even if your garden clipper is of the highest quality, it will rust if you do not take precautions. After each usage, you should clean your garden shears with a combination of mild water and bleach. Alternately, alcohol can be used to clean them.

Once you have finished cleaning the blades, wipe them down with a dry towel and store them only when they are fully dry. If you keep them wet or store them in an area with moisture, the blades will corrode. In addition, you must re-oil your instrument with cooking oil or spray for a smoother working surface.

Using sandpaper, you may remove rust from garden clippers that have rusted over time. Steel wool may also be used for the same purpose.
